The Lucketts Spring Antique Market, Leesburg, VA

The Lucketts Spring Antique Market is one of those flea markets you want to put on your calendar early.  If you are a flea market aficionado, vintage collector, shabby chic designer or dealer and you have missed this flea market in the past, shame on you.  Featured in a Country Home magazine article a few years back, this flea market attracts thousand from across the country and is more like a good old fashioned hoedown.  Aside from good deals on antiques and vintage collectibles, Lucketts Spring Antique Market features plenty of great eats and live music to liven up the weekend. 

9th & U Flea Market, 9th Street & U Street, Washington, DC, 202.232.2494

The 9th & U Flea Market in Washington DC has been described by someone as having a “good mix of fugazi street vendors” and other have described it as “an odd assortment of vendors and customers” but we can all agree that this is a fun market where deals can be found and good time can be had.  This flea market, open on weekends, has some very diverse merchandise including electronics, clothing and thrift shop items; you just never know what you will find and every outing is an adventure.

Gaithersburg Antique & Collectibles Show, Montgomery County Fairgrounds, Gaithersburg, Maryland, 301.649.1915

The Gaithersburg Antique & Collectibles Show is held a couple of times a year at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The show is promoted by L Johnson Promotions and attracts hundreds of dealers and thousands of visitors from the Washington DC area.

 

 

The Lucketts Fair, Leesburg, VA

Another great event in the picturesque hamlet of Lucketts, Virginia, just north of Leesburg, is the annual Lucketts Fair.  The Lucketts Fair features great family entertainment with rides and arts and crafts for the kids and an antiques and collectibles corridor for the adults.  It attracts many great vendors and thousands of people from the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area as well as those from western Maryland and West Virginia.  The Lucketts Fair also features plenty of parking, delicious food and great live music.

Eastern Market Flea Market, 225 7th St SE, Washington, DC, 202.546.2698

The Eastern Market flea market is open on Sundays from 9 am until 5 pm and has been a staple of the Capitol Hill neighborhood for about 26 years.  The Eastern Market flea market has about 75 vendors selling antiques, vintage and retro collectibles as well an eclectic mix of merchandise.  In addition, this flea market is across from the famed Eastern Market, where you can purchase arts, crafts, and produce from the farmers market; and is surrounded by boutiques and great eateries.  It is also accessible by metro.

Georgetown Flea Market, 1819 35th St NW, Washington, DC, 202.775.FLEA

Georgetown Flea Market has moved back to its Northwest Washington DC home and as usual attracts some great people.  At this flea market you will find antiques, collectibles, vintage merchandise and an eclectic mix of other items.  It is also a great place to people watch on a lazy Sunday morning as a cast of characters can usually be found here.  The Georgetown Flea Market has been around for since 1973 and is the setting for the book Cadillac Jack by author Larry McMurtry.  This flea market is surrounded by great boutiques, stores and great places to eat.

DC Big Flea, Dulles Expo Center, Chantilly, Virginia, 757.430.4735

The DC Big Flea is the granddaddy of all antiques and collectibles shows in the Washington DC & Northern Virginia metropolitan area.  This indoor antique and collectible market held at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia features 1100 booths, hundreds of dealers and thousands of visitors from around the country. The DC Big Flea offers plenty of free parking and food courts in two building serviced by a shuttle.  If you cannot find what you are looking for at the DC Big Flea, you will not find it anywhere. 

Bethesda Flea Market, Montgomery Farm Women's Cooperative, 7155 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland, 301.652.2291

The Bethesda Flea Market is better known as the Montgomery Farm Women’s Cooperative Market and it is located in Bethesda, Maryland.  This flea market is open on Wednesdays, and Friday through Sunday throughout the year.  The Bethesda Flea Market, which has been around since 1932 features antiques, collectibles, vintage merchandise and fresh farm produce as well as handcrafted items.

The Columbia Flea Market is located in Columbia, Maryland and is open on Sundays from April thru October.  This flea market attracts over two hundred vendors and thousands of visitors each month.  The Columbia Flea Market specializes in antiques and vintage collectibles including art pottery, paintings, silver, rugs, vintage jewelry, coins, and glass as well as handcrafted items.
